Old West Melodrama is preparing for its next presentation, “Trouble at the Tropicabana,” which opens on Friday, Oct. 5 and continues Friday and Saturday evenings through Friday, Oct. 19. The play will be held at Puffabelly’s Depot Restaurant, 100 Main St. in Spring, with dinner and a pre-show starting at 7 p.m. Purchasing dinner is required to attend the show. The murder mystery begins at 8 p.m. The story was written by Tony Schwartz and Marylou Ambrose and produced byspecial arrangement with the Lakeside Players from Tafton, Penn. “You’ll hear Ricky sing some Latin favorites, watch the Cabana girls dance and join in a conga line,” producer Jeannine Cole said. Besides Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel, audience members will meet movie mogul heiress Celia B. DeMilo, the notorious gangster Mr. Big and Ricky’s cousin Rosita, a Cabana girl. The plot thickens as attendees question what escaped convict Mr. Big is doing at Ricky’s club and if Celia is even who she claims to be. “Will Ricky sign a movie contract? Will Lucy and Ethel ruin Ricky’s big chance with another harebrained scheme to get into show business? It’s going to be a fun ride with a lot of interesting twists and turns,” Cole said. The dinner theatre is an interactive experience – and audience participation is encouraged. Gift certificates are available. Tickets may be reserved by emailing or calling 713-364-9190. Old West Melodrama, stationed at 100 Main Street in Old Town Spring, is the only dinner shows year round. The troupe, founded by Joe Cole, is comprised of experienced actors and performers who enjoy interacting with the audience.
