Honduras Mayan offers traditional favorites in a serene, colorful and refined setting. Sopa de caracol -- or conch soup -- is the restaurant's finest dish, with sweet chunks of conch and plantain swimming in a mild coconut broth. Carnivores will love dishes like the meaty lomito de res, a Honduran version of beef fajitas, while vegetarians will enjoy the chancletas, stuffed and battered chayote squash in a delicate tomato sauce. The southwest-side restaurant's frozen margaritas are among the best in town, especially during the generous happy hour, but there are plenty of Honduran beers on the menu, too. And Honduras Mayan serves its delicious and filling traditional breakfasts -- with plantains, fried eggs, beans, avocado, cheese and tortillas -- all day long.
