Road Closures on 288 and I-10 This Weekend You'll Want to Know About

Peaceful, isn't it. Well, that's because it wasn't taken recently.
Last week, we told you about the closures to 288 over the coming weekends. That is one of two major traffic issues Houstonians will need to deal with this weekend.

To recap, the entire 288/610 interchange will be closed from 9 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday morning. To make matters worse, 610 between Almeda and Scott will be shut down as well. Your best bet is to completely avoid the entire area because it will be a mess over there.

To be honest, the other closure might be a bigger issue even though it is over a shorter span of time. This one is on the Katy Freeway. All of the westbound lanes of I-10 will be closed between Mason Road and the Grand Parkway from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. So, if you were planning a trip to Katy Mills Mall or the Typhoon Texas Waterpark, be prepared.

And if you were headed farther out of town (to San Antonio or Austin maybe), you may want to steer around this stretch of road or be prepared to deal with the headache of middle-of-a-Saturday traffic. Ugh.

Before you head out on the roads, it might be a good idea to pay a visit to the Houston TranStar road construction page. In addition to the major closing listed here, there are tons of smaller closings including entrance and exit ramps, and frontage roads all across the region.

Anything you can do to avoid those areas will be good for both traffic and your sanity.
