Hello, world.

Kolaches are great and all, but when an institution like Christy's Donuts, wraps their weenies with kinda-sorta croissant dough? Well, I choose you, Pikachu.

There's nothing better than scooping up a box of croissant kolaches and a fistful of mustard packets from Christy's to take back to whoever may or may not still be crashing on your couch. And if you re-heat them at home it really brings the croissant back to life. 375 degrees Fahrenheit for five minutes should do it.

I think it was five minutes, I got distracted squeezing the mustard perfectly out of the packets like a serial killer. After that, let them cool for about one minute, and there you have it, a crust with a voice.

The wiener makes up about 15 percent of this treat, and that's okay, it's your run-of-the-mill, insert hot dog here, type wiener. The croissant dough isn't something the country of France would put their name on, but it works. Basic yellow mustard is the way to go too, and lots of it.

What's perfect about this pairing is the mouthful of flaky crust, the lil bit of weenie, the tangy yellow mustard and the very real possibility that you're going back to bed afterward.

If you have extra mustard packets, hang on to them. They're good to keep on your person in the event you happen upon a surprise pretzel or a surprise hot dog or a surprise bag of Frito's.

A few croissant kolaches will cost about $3.  Christy's Donuts is located at 1103 W. Gray. They are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Saturday 4:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. And Sunday 5 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
