Hopdoddy Burger Bar, 5510 Morningside, 4444 Westheimer, 142 Vintage Park, is celebrating Oktoberfest by offering the Das Brat Burger, available now. The German-themed burger includes a brat and potato patty with a Bavarian-style apple/cabbage slaw, lingonberry preserves and Saint Arnold Oktoberfest pickled mustard seeds. The burger can be paired with a Saint Arnold Oktoberfest beer for $10 beginning the first day of Oktoberfest, Saturday, September 22, through Friday, October 5.
One of Mexico’s most iconic dishes, chiles en nogada, will be featured on the menu at Hugo’s, 1600 Westheimer, throughout walnut and pomegranate season (available through the end of December 2018). Chef Hugo Ortega is offering three varieties for diners to enjoy — pork, brisket and vegetarian options, each mixed with red and green apple, pear, peach, plantain, sweet potato, almonds and raisins, and stuffed into the poblanos and topped with choice of sweet or savory walnut cream sauce and garnished with pomegranate seeds and parsley. Each order includes two peppers (pork $28; brisket $28; vegetarian $23).
Tony Mandola's Gulf Coast Kitchen, 1212 Waugh, is celebrating oyster season with $1 oysters on-the half-shell, at the bar, in the dining room and on its New Orleans style patio, all September long.
In honor of chef Paul Friedman’s 65th birthday, all fine dining locations of Peli Peli, 5085 Westheimer, 110 Vintage Park, 23501 Cinco Ranch, will be offering a $65 four-course prix fixe menu throughout the month of September. Guests can dine on choices including bobotie, South African samosa, carrot-ginger soup, beef espetada, lamb chops, filet with Huguenot sauce, melktart and sticky toffee pudding. South African wine flights can be added for $25.
Third Coast Restaurant, 6550 Bertner, Sixth Floor, and award-winning sommelier David Cook will be celebrating Oktoberfest with a Beer Tasting on Tuesday, September 18 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Guests will learn about a handful of beer styles while enjoying light bites from chef Jon Buchanan. Tickets are $55.
Central Market, 3815 Westheimer, will host its annual Passport event from Wednesday, September 19 through Tuesday, October 2. This year’s event theme is ‘Passport United Kingdom’, showcasing traditional products and dishes along with hundreds of brilliant new items from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
The Gulf Restoration Network will host a “Know Your Fisher” dinner at Monica Pope’s Cookshop, 4009 Roseland, on Wednesday September 26 at 6:30 p.m. With food from chef Pope, the focus of the night will be the conversation about fisheries, with Galveston-based fisherman Buddy Guindon providing all of the fish for the event and telling the story about how the fish was caught. Tickets are $60, which include dinner and wine, and reservations will be capped at 25 to keep the atmosphere intimate.
Rainbow Lodge, 2011 Ella, will host a seated, coursed Fall Wine Dinner on Wednesday, September 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will feature the wines of Revana Family Vineyards and cost is $149 plus tax and gratuity.
