9/28 - The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

It doesn’t matter how good Ozzy Osbourne moves or sounds these days. He’s Ozzy and not only is he part of the fabric of what we call pop culture but he’s part of the reason heavy music exists to this day. Is this really the last time he’ll grace a stage in the greater Houston area? Odds are good that’s the case, but never say never in rock. You can try and pretend that you don’t want to hear “Crazy Train” live one last time, but then you’d be lying, and lying is bad.

Taylor Swift
9/29 - NRG Stadium

There was a time when placing Taylor Swift in the “you either love her or hate her” category seemed silly because you don’t play stadiums without a sizable casual audience, but more and more I wonder if that’s not actually the truth. Reputation doesn’t feel like it’s had the staying power of her last two records, even if it has been wildly successful. From that perspective, the good news is that if you’re going to this show, you’re going to be surrounded by some very dedicated fans.

9/29 - Toyota Center

Drake is actually going to be in town for multiple nights, and while every show will probably be some level of good, I’ve always been a “go to the first show of a multi-night stand” type of person, just because I tend to feel the energy level is the highest then. What special moments will Drake bring out for his big Houston return? I can’t even begin to speculate because everything feels like it could be on the table, but if we don’t get “Sicko Mode” with Travis Scott why is this show even happening?

9/29 - Smart Financial Centre

Seriously, has there ever been a concert day this stacked in Houston? Feels like everyone has a superstar booked on September 29. Independent of how you might feel about how she treats her crowds when it comes to time management, there’s no denying that Hill is one of the most important artists in music over the past 25 years. Her concert might not be for you, but at least you’ll know everything happening is her vision.

9/30 - The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

The loaded weekend rolls on with this show rolling into The Woodlands. “Shake It Out” is a few years old now, but as an anthem, it might be needed now more than ever (it’s also a better song than “Shake It Off” by magnitudes). Buy a ticket and sing as loud as you can; it’s cheaper than therapy after all.

9/27 - Austin

Thursday is a weird day for a road trip, yes, but sometimes you have to put the wheels to the pavement for some good industrial times. Besides, you know you bought that Metallica tribute album they put out forever ago and had a really good time listening to what they would have sounded like had they grown up in Germany. Get your best all-black outfit and make the trip West — Elysium is one of those venues everyone should experience once.
