The Sexy Side of Bayou Bend

Quick, think of the sexiest place in Houston.

Okay, now imagine yourself enjoying a relaxing Sunday afternoon there the day before Valentine's Day.

Y'all all thought of Bayou Bend, right?

We thought so. This Sunday, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Museum of Fine Arts-owned residence of the legendary Ima Hogg, which specializes in American decorative arts, invites you into its bedrooms for a tour and a discussion of the boudoir habits of early Americans. Or something like that. This third installment of Bayou Bend's 2011 History Series will include a tour of the manse's bedrooms, a talk, and refreshments.

The bedroom bash is part of Bayou Bend's mission to educate Houstonians not just about the objects in the house, but the lives of the people who would have owned and used these objects. (Did you know they even have a summer camp, where Houston kids can learn the arts, crafts and skills of a bygone era?)

So go enjoy the Chippendale bedroom at Bayou Bend and let us know what you think: Hot, or not? And if the distant past turns out not to be your cup of tea, you can always stop by the new decidedly modern, silver-LEED certified, Lora Jean Kilroy Visitors Center on your way out--and pick up a last minute Valentine's Day gift in their shop while you're at it.
