Starting tonight, the weekly "They, Who Sound" creative music series at Avant Garden, 411 Westheimer, shifts its Sunday residency to Monday nights.
The May 1 gig that featured east coast sound sculptors Bonnie Jones and Suzanne Thorpe marked the last time "They, Who Sound" -- which features a gaggle of Houston improvisers, including David Dove, Sandy Ewen and Damon Smith -- will sound off on a Sunday evening.
Nameless Sound and other local experimental-music presenters are heading into their summer breaks, so Monday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. is going to be, more or less, "it" for this type of thing on a weekly basis.
In terms of monthly platforms, the Binarium Sound Series (which is also a podcast series) recently announced that they're moving to The Heights' 14 Pews, 800 Aurora Street, for its showcase that takes place the last Sunday of each month.
The series debuts at its new location from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, May 29, with performances by The Core Trio, Robert Pearson/Carl Smith/Abel Cisneros/Damon Smith and Konstantinos Kouzas/Jonathan Jindra.
