A Leap of Style

Karissa Lindsey of A Leap of Style has had a pretty great year. After seeing her clothing line placed in her first choice boutique, her Kickstarter campaign successfully funded, and the premier of her newest collection, she will be making her Artopia premier in January. A Leap of Style is a line of bold, globally-inspired clothing for the modern woman. The mission is to give women clothing that makes them feel beautiful and feminine, but also bold and confident. Her mix of Ankara fabrics and modern lines make a real style statement.

Marrittah

Martha Mtegha launched the first collection of Marrittah this Fall with multiple trunk shows, including an event hosted by one of Houston's favorite designers Chloe Dao. Her mission is to create minimalistic yet elegant pieces with high quality fabrics inspired by her life experiences in Africa, Europe and North America. Mtegha's ready to wear collection is all types of cool, but to add another level of perfect, customers can have their purchase hand painted for a completely customized piece.

Violet Peacock

Bio-archaeologist turned Brit punk milliner and Etsy queen Lindsay Halpin has been designing her hand crafted signature toppers for years. Taught the art of sewing by her Gran at an early age, Halpin fuses punk, burlesque, circus costuming, and vintage to create her one of kind pieces for line Violet Peacock. Her hats and fascinators have graced the stage and screen, as well as been featured in photoshoots with Houston's top stylists.

Houston Press is excited to present 2015 Artopia on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter Street. For more information and to buy tickets visit houstonpressartopia.com.
