Jim Parsons and Houston Theater Get Some Attention in a NY Times piece

Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons got a write-up in The New York Times as he prepares for his lead role in Harvey, and Houston got some mentions, too.

According to the story, Parsons was a theater nerd right from the start -- although for years he was also intrigued by the weather patterns of the Gulf Coast (a failing grade in a meteorology course at UH took care of that), appearing in his first production in his first-grade class.

The article mentions that during and right after his college years, Parsons did more than two dozen plays and "17 plays in three years with an experimental theater company, Infernal Bridegroom Productions [now defunct]" before moving on to California, New York City and eventual stardom.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the article -- and no, it's not that Parsons has been in a gay relationship of ten years' standing -- is that he has never seen the Jimmy Stewart movie version of the classic play. It'll be interesting to see what he comes up with in his own right.
