Upcoming Houston Food Events: An Italy vs. France Showdown & More

On Wednesday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m., join executive chef Giancarlo Ferrara of Amalfi Ristorante Italiano & Bar and executive chef and owner Jacques Fox of Artisans Restaurant at their friendly Italy vs. France culinary competition, held at Amalfi Ristorante Italiano & Bar, 6100 Westheimer. Tickets ($135 for members of the Italy-America, or French-American Chambers of Commerce; $150 for non-members) will get you entrance to the reception and an extravagant wine-paired dinner. Enjoy foie gras tarte tatin, bufalo-ricotta ravioli with shrimp tartar, stuffed quail leg, and more.

Haak Vineyard and Winery, 6310 Ave. T, will be hosting a Wine & Dine Dinner on Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. Enjoy a 5-course, wine-paired menu -- featuring dishes like pan-seared scallops with brown butter and French beef stew with red wine -- for $39.95 per person. On Saturday, March 28 at 7 p.m., join Yellow Rose Distilling, 1224 N. Post Oak, for an evening of Southern fare, soulful sounds and sinful sips. Our 13th Annual Menu of Menus Extravaganza is almost here! There's still time to get your tickets ($50 for advance general admission; $90 for advance VIP) to the event, held on Tuesday, March 31 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Silver Street Station, 1500 Silver. You can expect over 40 top area restaurants sampling food alongside plenty of wine, beer and spirits. The event also features our 4th Annual Iron Fork competition, where 2 masterful local chefs compete for the ultimate bragging rights.

Reserve your spot for the third Beer Dinner Series at Whole Foods Market Post Oak, 1700 Post Oak, held on Thursday, April 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The 4-course, beer-paired dinner features eats from Whole Foods Market executive chef Joshua Shobe and beers from brewmaster Dave Ohmer. Tickets ($50 per person) will be on sale though March 30, with limited seats available.
