Texas Wine Blogger Alfonso Cevola Wins Top Honor

Yesterday, the organizers of the Wine Blog Awards announced the 2012 winners, including Dallas-based wine blogger Alfonso Cevola (above), who won for the "best single subject wine blog" category.

Now in their sixth year, the Wine Blog Awards are widely considered the highest accolades in the world of contemporary wine blogging. The peer-based nomination and voting process is administered by the annual American Wine Bloggers Conference (which was held over the weekend in Portland, Oregon).

A California native and Texas transplant, Cevola is a 30-year veteran of the Texas wine industry and currently serves as "Italian wine ambassador" for Glazer's, one of the state's leading distributors of fine wines. His blog is one of the world's leading resources on Italian wine today, and he is often cited by his peers and colleagues for his lyrical writing style and his original photography -- including many scans of black and white prints from his visits to Italy in the 1970s and 1980s.
