Oh, boy! Gentlemen, get ready to be dragged out to Old Town Spring (not to be confused with Olde Springfield) by your ladies for this weekend's SpringFest Wine & Art Festival. Although the festival itself is free -- which, frankly, isn't unlike a regular weekend in Old Town Spring what with all the art and antique browsing -- the wine tasting costs $25, which will get you a commemorative glass and five samples. Additional samples can be purchased for $1 each. The fun starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and runs through 6 p.m. that night, starting up again Sunday morning at 11 p.m. and finally ending at 5 p.m. Bring cash to park, too -- it's $3 per car, which goes to charity.
As mentioned last week, this Sunday will also feature the 26th anniversary brunch at Pico's Mex-Mex. Tickets are still available for $19.95 each or $24.95 at the door, which includes an all-you-can-eat buffet of more than 100 different Mexican specialties. Bottomless mimosas can also be purchased for a measly $5. You know that Eating Our Words will be there, mimosas in hand. We're cheap day drunks like that.
And coming up shortly, the Greater Houston Restaurant Association will be hosting its annual Cajun Cookout on March 25. This year's theme: "Who's Your Crawdaddy?" Held jointly at Pearl Bar and The Lot on Washington Avenue, the cookout will feature a Cajun buffet, plenty of beer and live music for $30 per person ($40 at the door). The bon temps start at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. But do bon temps ever truly end when they're supposed to?
