Upcoming Events: Peaches Galore, Wine Tastings & More

Normally happy hours consist of discounted drinks, small plates, appetizers, socializing and having a good time after work. But, Eleven XI has a little twist to the norm by incorporating fine art into the mix. On Tuesday, July 2, from 5-8 p.m., you can enjoy gazing at beautiful landscape portraits from Houstonian Joe Cogliandro while sipping cocktails and drinks from the bar at this recently opened restaurant on W. Gray Street.

Starting July 8 and lasting until September 1, The Capital Grille will offer reservations for you to taste a collection of seven wines, each rated at 90 points or higher. Make a reservation before Sunday, June 30. In fact, you can reserve a spot at The Capital Grille for up to 12 people ‑ make it a party. You will also dine on a free amuse bouche the chef has paired with La Crema Pinot Gris.

Learn a little bit about wine making and tasting during the Wine Dinner with Ruca Malen at Central Market Houston on Wednesday, July 10. Pablo Cuneo, winemaker at the Argentine winery, Ruca Malen, and Lucas Bustos, chef at Ruca Malen, have teamed up to teach a Central Market class about how wines are made and what gives them certain tastes and flavors. The evening also includes a summer menu paired with Argentine wines. Enjoy grilled squash ravioli with a lemon, fennel and Granny Smith apple salad, as well as a mushroom-encrusted grilled filet mignon. Each ticket costs $65.

For the entire month of July, Ouisie's Table and The Bird & The Bear will be serving a lunch and dinner menu featuring peach dishes to honor the season. Both restaurants will be serving specials like peach chutney, warm ginger peach cake, cold peach soup and some special peach cocktails.
