Openings and Closings

Lovers of Belgian cuisine have another reason to rejoice other than Catherine Duwez's increasingly common Cafe Montrose dinners: Former co-owner Andrew Klarman is opening Jeannine's Bistro this week with his sister, Jeaninne Petras. The cafe will be located at Westheimer/Elgin and Bagby and will serve the standard Belgian fare -- moules et frites -- along with other Belgian and French dishes. The cafe will be open for lunch and dinner and while it currently has a very small seating area, they hope to expand soon.

Speaking of reincarnations, a second Houston location of the Benihana-owned sushi restaurant RA Sushi (12860 Queensbury) has opened at CityCentre, the newest let's-play-like-we're-chic-urbanites mixed-development site in west Houston. Serving the same menu as its sister location in Highland Village, the CityCenter location also has a similar aerial view of the area from its patio on the second floor, which looks down into the heart of the development below.

In sadder news, Mucho Mexico Los Molcajetes (1310 N. Wayside Drive) closed this week, according to B4-U-Eat. The highly authentic Mexican restaurant was popular not just in the area, but citywide, as people came from all over to enjoy their seafood and live music. Thankfully, Houston has no shortage of Mexican seafood joints to fit that bill -- live music included. Just head over to Airline and start with Connie's and Tampico.
