79 Cent Pork Chops Statewide Today at Perry's Steakhouse

Perry's Steakhouse & Grille opened for business in 1979. To your benefit, some marketing genius thought it would be neat to have a "Flashback Friday" and commemorate the date by offering their humongous Signature Pork Chops for a mere 79 cents. Let me say that one more time. Seventy-nine cents. As in, the same amount of pocket change you have roaming about in your purse, underneath your car seat and behind the couch. You can't even get a pack of gum for that money. You can't even get a Big Mac for that money. In other words, this is a crazy-good dining deal that you should really try to take advantage of. The deal runs today, and today only, at 11 a.m.

Here is all of the fine print, as found on the Perry's Web site, so that you can adequately go about obtaining this treasure:

"Perry's opens for lunch at 11 a.m. on Fridays, so on Flashback Friday, the first 100 people in line outside the restaurant at 11 a.m. will receive cards redeemable for a 79-cent Pork Chop Friday lunch. This special offer is for dine-in only and available on a first come, first serve basis. No reservations will be accepted earlier than 11:30 a.m. the day of the Flashback Friday lunch."

Chances are you'll be visiting one of Perry's eight Houston-area locations for "Flashback Friday" - Champions, Clear Lake, Katy, Memorial City, Sugar Land or The Woodlands. But, if you happen to be in Austin, Dallas or San Antonio, every Perry's in these cities will be offering the deal as well.

If you've been living under a rock and don't know what the Perry's Signature Pork Chop is, let me enlighten you: It is a prime chop that is cured, roasted, slow-smoked, caramelized and finished in the oven, and it comes topped with herb-garlic butter. The chop is carved table-side -- by a typically attentive server -- into three parts: a small, smokey piece, ribs, and a large, moist, fatty core. Chances are, you'll be taking home a doggie bag.

In case you're wondering, the price tag on the chop is typically $32.95. Unless it's Friday during lunch time, during which the chop is specially priced at $11.95. The lunch deal is so good and the food so delicious that on a typical Friday, about 2,500 Signature Pork Chops are sold collectively at the Perry's restaurants throughout Texas. Good for those 2,500 people. Will you be one of the 900 who get the same thing for only 79 cents?
