Flux Pavilion Stereo Live May 31, 2012
Bass, a sold-out show and Flux Pavilion. I smell trouble, or maybe just a cannon?
What better way than to end the month of May with some bass cannon to get your ears wet and ringing? Having said that, I sure hope you took the month of May seriously.
Joshua Steele, a.k.a. Flux Pavilion, did not grace the stage with his presence until 12:45 a.m. That tends to be a bit later than when Stereo normally has the headliners on, but he showed up.
Prior to Flux, Cookie Monsta contained the crowd. But his style is filthy dubstep, and he sure got that crowd raunchy. Some did not let the anxious feeling of Flux's impending appearance prevent them from having a blast. Others grew aggravated and started a chant for Flux while Cookie Monsta was still tearing things apart. In a good way.
Having seen Flux Pavilion three times before, I was sure that the fourth would be an awesome ride. Right before he hit the stage, an announcement was made that the show would be recorded and a video would be available for purchase at the T-shirt stand.
Finally, the crowd was on their journey. Flux Pavilion came out with his ever-so-noted bleach-blond hair, introduced himself (as if we didn't know who he was) and then stated, "Houston, we have a problem...there's no music!"
The bass, and the crowd, were soon off the walls.
Things started out with a moombahton sound that just isn't entirely like the Flux P I know. He sure pulled it off, however, slipping in his latest hit, "Daydreamer." But over the course of the show, he brought out the Flux I love. He is the main reason I stepped into the dubstep world, after all.
