One of my favorite songs of all time, Clarence Carter’s “Strokin’,” just came up on XM Radio’s ’80s channel, and it put me in such a good mood I felt like sharing it with all of you. Though it never actually charted, “Strokin’,” from the Alabama native's 1985 LP Dr. CC, was something of a comeback hit for Carter, who hit the R&B charts several times in the late ‘60s with songs like “Slip Away,” “Back Door Santa” (which Run-DMC sampled on “Christmas in Hollis”), and a remake of “Sixty Minute Man.” Carter’s stroke is no joke.
Here’s some people at a wedding obviously hearing “Strokin’” for the first time. I hope you have as much fun this weekend as they are. – Chris Gray
