More Ike-Related Music News

A few more (possibly) final bits of music-related Ike aftermath...

* Sugar Hill Studios (above), emerged from Ike relatively unscathed, though the legendary Produce Row-area recording house sustained a little roof damage and, like everywhere else, was beset by fallen trees and power lines. Sessions scheduled for this week are pending while Sugar Hill awaits restoration of electricity. Call 713-926-4431 for more information.

* More Woodlands cancellations: Tongue-in-cheek country star Brad Paisley's "Paisley Party" tour, with Jewel and Chuck Wicks, scheduled for Friday, October 17 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, is canceled. Buzzfest, featuring the Offspring, Staind, Seether, Papa Roach and the Toadies, is still on for Sunday, October 26 - for now.

* Power was finally (mercifully) restored to the block of 3700 Main Street Saturday night, making tonight's Glover Tango/El Orbits bill the first show at the Continental Club in 11 days. Also, the Allen Oldies Band (above) is planning its first-ever Houston jalapeno pancake breakfast, long a SXSW staple, for 10 a.m. Saturday in the club's backyard. The neighboring Mink reopened last night, but is usually closed Mondays anyway.

* Finally, Houston's midnight-6 a.m. curfew appears to be in effect until further notice. Like R.E.M. said, welcome to the occupation... - Chris Gray
