Ride On, Baby

SUN 1/25

Gary Lashinsky has produced countless tours with rockers such as Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. But the stars he's working with right now spare him the petulant behavior he's had to deal with in the past. Instead of arguing over contract riders, the 14 white Lipizzaner stallions in Dancing White Stallions worry about the riders on their backs. The majestic animals, groomed at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, perform intricate dressage moves such as the capriole, a high leap into the air combined with a kicking out of the hind legs. Stallions were once taught such movements so they could aid their riders in battle. These horses trained six to eight years before joining the tour. Says Lashinsky, "This show is like stepping back hundreds of years in history." 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, January 25. Toyota Center, 1510 Polk. For tickets, call 866-446-8849 or visit www.houstontoyotacenter.com. $19.50 to $28.50. -- Greg Barr
