Wine Flight for Carnivores

Chef g's Seafood and Steakhouse (1915 Westheimer, 713-522-5551) is marking its first year with a little menu tweaking. The popular "dinner journey" ($24.95 per person) is a scaled-back version of chef Gower Idrees's original "meat and seafood journey," which could choke a horse. The new option is a sharable sampler of three entrées and a side. If you like to eat off your date's plate anyway, the dinner journey is perfect. You can choose from the stuffed filet mignon roast (filled with blue cheese or bacon and horseradish), the pork loin with lump jumbo crabmeat, or the grilled rib eye. The beef is Certified Black Angus; the pork is from the Pipestone Family Farms. There's also fish and fowl: lobster tempura, horseradish lemon-crusted snapper or sautéed duck breast. The best side-dish bets are the creamed spinach and the skillet potatoes. Even with two eaters, you still may need a doggie bag.
