MARTA Meets Metro

SUN 11/30

Are Atlantans and Houstonians rivals? Well, they had Lee Brown, police chief; we had Lee Brown, mayor. They have TLC; we have Destiny's Child. They're a big Southern town that Sherman burned to the ground; we're a big Southern town where you find Nat Sherman butts on the ground... Okay, so it's a stretch. In football, at least, there's Jerry Glanville, who coached both the Oilers and the Falcons, but that memory moved out with the Titans. Still, the Texans-Falcons game's lack of prefab conflict shouldn't stop you from heading over to Reliant Stadium on Sunday after downing that last turkey-con-salsa sandwich.Atlanta comes in with only two wins, but the team's been without Michael Vick for most of the season on account of his broken leg. And Vick has said he plans to return this weekend. If he does, and if David Carr, Texans quarterback (and every daughter's dream), is healed from his shoulder injury, two of the NFL's future superstars will meet mano a mano. If that's not reason enough to show the Falcons who's boss, just remember that Atlanta's nickname is "the ATL." Lame. We don't call ourselves "the IAH." Go Bayou City! Noon. Sunday, November 30. One Reliant Park. For tickets, call 713-629-3700 or visit www.ticketmaster.com. $35 to $74.50. Foam fingers and Beyoncé posters extra. -- Eric Norvell

Fore Fun

Golf is the official sport of work. Salesmen work on their deals at swanky golf courses; drunks work on their buzzes at Golden Tee machines; preteens work on their pickup lines at miniature golf courses. It's kind of ironic that so much work can be done without breaking a sweat. Golf is one of those rare sports where what happens while you're playing the game is more important than the game itself. And the pastime just got even better: Now there's The Putting Edge, an indoor putt-putt course where preteens can look at trippy glow-in-the-dark effects and mack on each other. 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Marq*E Entertainment Center, 7620 Katy Freeway, suite 406. For more information, call 713-263-7051 or visit www.putting-edge.com. $8. -- Keith Plocek
