Before there were cowboys, there were ...

The whole town is in the rodeo spirit, and Casa Ramirez is joining in by hosting "Vaqueros y Rancheros", a special exhibit spotlighting the Mexican contribution to the history of cowboys and ranchers. Artifacts, Mexican saddles, and historic photographs (many from Casa Ramirez owner Macario Ramirez's personal collection) will be featured along with Texas cattle-scene paintings by Lilibeth André. Press materials say, "The vaquero taught the North American cowboy to ride, rope, tend cattle and how to survive the rough mesquite and nodal country. The rancheros/rancheras were the original ranchers that pioneered in the establishment and development of America's cattle industry." 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. 241 West 19th Street.
