60th Annual H-E-B Holiday Parade

It doesn't matter if you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, get in the mood for the upcoming festivities at the 60th Annual H-E-B Holiday Parade. In addition to the usual balloon characters, marching bands and drill teams, this year's incarnation features the Budweiser Clydesdales, Pancho Claus and his lowriders, and Sikh martial artists. There's TUTS's Sound of Music-themed float, a Santa Claus-and-reindeer float and a 60th-anniversary float celebrating parades past. Dr. Bernard Harris Jr., the first black astronaut to walk in space, will serve as grand marshal; actress Naturi Naughton of Fame fame, and Great Day Houston host Deborah Duncan will be celebrity guests. (But just like at the first parade back in 1949, Santa Claus will be the real star.) The fun starts at Minute Maid Park, then loops through downtown back to the George R. Brown Convention Center. 9 a.m. For information, including the parade route, visit www.hebparade.com. Free to $22.
