Very Merry Pops

At first glance, it might seem like just another holiday concert: With Very Merry Pops, conductor Michael Krajewski and the singers of the Houston Symphony Chorus will join the brass, drums, strings and piano for rousing renditions of standards like "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Silent Night," "Carol of the Bells" and "We Three Kings." But the symphony veers away from the traditional as it welcomes Revolve Dance Company and Dance of Asian America to its stage, along with pop pianist William Joseph, who's performed with the likes of John Mayer and Alicia Keys. Throw in a sing-along, a visit from Santa Claus and the fact that this is the Houston Symphony we're talking about, and it might just seem like you're hearing all the holiday hits for the first time. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana. For information, call 713-224-7575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. $29 to $122.
Fri., Dec. 11, 8 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 12, 8 p.m.; Sun., Dec. 13, 2:30 & 7:30 p.m., 2009
