"rock, scissors, paper"

The new exhibit "rock, scissors, paper" features collages, installations, illustrations and even paper clothing created by a quintet of artists using commercially printed found paper. Lisa Qualls, Inca Pan, Renata Lucia, Claire Brewster and Wonil Suh fold, cut, layer, stitch and collage the paper. Some use it as their sole material; others use it as one of many elements. One image seen in the show is Cathedral Window by Lucia. Cutting a diamond-shaped opening in a sheet of paper, Lucia creates a window through which we see, instead of a religious scene, a photograph of a Metro train. The opening reception is 5:30 to 8 p.m. on October 29. Regular viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Through January 10. Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, 4848 Main. For information, call 713-529-4848 or visit www.crafthouston.org. Free.
