"Pieced Together"

After representing Texas on a cross-country tour, the "Pieced Together" graffiti art exhibit will celebrate the end of its trek at Aerosol Warfare Gallery. The show, which spotlights artists from across the state, opened some eyes in graffiti epicenters like New York and L.A. "People don't ever look at Texas like there’s something happening here," Daniel Anguilu, a local artist featured in the show, says. "But you bring it to them and they realize there is something happening here. [The Texas graffiti scene] is a small community of people, but most of them can compete with anyone in the world." The tour, organized by Austin graffiti legend SLOKE, was the first of its kind for Texas. "It's funny in a way, because no one's really representing their city," Anguilu says. "It's just a whole Texas thing, and everybody's really happy to do that." The opening reception celebrates the state's spray-paint superheroes from 7 to 11 p.m. on August 15. Regular viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Through September 12. 2110 Jefferson, #113. For information, visit www.aerosolwarfare.com. Free.
