"Glitter Art Show"

JB Carrillo is putting a sparkly spin on Signac and Seurat. "I'm starting neo-pointillism," says the artist behind "Glitter Art Show." "I'm not doing dots with paint, I'm doing dots with glitter." Carrillo creates portraits of both real and imagined people, either embellished with or completely covered in glitter. His approach embraces both the quick-and-easy ("I shake [glitter] over it while the paint is still wet," he says) to the more meticulous (sparkle-by-sparkle placement using a needle, necessary when a straight line is called for). Carrillo will debut his glimmering goods today with the help of some shiny, happy people - the opening will feature black-clad models with shimmering makeup and hair designs. "[The idea is to] focus on the faces," Carrillo says. "Like [in] the paintings." Get glitzed from 6 to 10 p.m. Dean's, 315 Fairview. For information, call 713-807-0301. Free.
