Daniel Silva: The Defector

The adventure starts when Israeli operative Gabriel Allon receives a note from Grigori Bulganov, a Russian defector and former colleague. It reads: "If this is in your possession, Ivan has taken me." Bulganov saved Allon's life in a previous escapade. In return, the Russian dissident asked simply: "Promise me I won't end up in an unmarked grave." Now he's missing, and it's up to Allon to find him. Daniel Silva's latest thriller, The Defector is the ninth outing for Allon, a semiretired super-spy who wants to do nothing more than make love to his new wife and work on art restorations. But the Israelis (and readers) won't leave Allon in peace for long. Today's reading and signing session is at 2 p.m. Murder by the Book, 2342 Bissonnet.
