Defending the Caveman

It’s the longest solo play in Broadway history, and if you watch the clips on YouTube, it’s pretty easy to see why. Rob Becker’s Defending the Caveman is a grin-inducing retelling of the battle of the sexes. In the show, the guy at center stage reexamines contemporary male/female relationships by comparing them to those from the Stone Age, when men were hunters and women were gatherers. The jokes are familiar: “Women are not hindered by logic.” But given the right performer, the comedy is still funny. The whole thing is performed on a lean set consisting of a Stone Age-looking easy chair and TV. Thankfully, your seats at the Hobby Center will be far more comfortable. 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Through June 14. 800 Bagby.
