Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park

If it’s March, it’s time for the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park. With a slew of awards and titles to its credit including being ranked as the #3 art festival in the country by American Style magazine and Best Festival in Houston by the Houston Press Best of Awards in 2008, Bayou City Art Festival features more than 300 artists working in clay, metal, glass, mixed media, photography and sculpture. Along with a variety of mediums, participants for this year’s juried festival present work in dozens of styles, including Larry Stephenson, a painter with a whimsical style and humorous outlook.

High school artists have their own display space and there’s an interactive kid-zone for the under-ten crowd who want to try their hand at creating. The Houston Arts Alliance has multicultural dance and music going nonstop on a performing arts stage. (Keep in mind, there’s no parking at Memorial Park. You’ll want to catch the free shuttle from Northwest Mall.)10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Memorial Park, 6501 Memorial Drive.
