Zenón, who carefully toes the line between Latin and contemporary jazz, has been very busy this year. In January he appeared on Hans Glawischnigs Panorama. In April he released Awake, his third project for Marsalis Music (as in Branford, not Wynton). In September, Zenón won a MacArthur genius grant, and last month his collaborative CD, SF JAZZ Collective, Live 2008, was released. Somewhere in there, he also found time to start a Puerto Rican folk music project and appear on Guillermo Kleins Filtros.
His stop in Houston, presented by the Da Camera Jazz series, is part of an extended tour that has taken him to Germany, France, Switzerland, Poland and the States. See? Its been a really busy year. 8 p.m. Cullen Theater, Wortham Theater Center, 550 Texas. For information, call 713-524-5050 or visit www.dacamera.com. $30 to $50.
