Little Women

Mothers and daughters: Your show has arrived. The musical version of Louisa May Alcott’s much loved Little Women comes to Houston thanks to the family-friendly folks at The Masquerade Theatre. The good-hearted March sisters and their beloved Marmee (that’s Alcott speak for Mom) sing and dance their way across a sweet tale of familial love and death during the Civil War. The most famous sister is, of course, tomboy Jo, who gets a great big Broadway tune at the end of the first act called “Astonishing” (which is what Jo wants to become). But the other sisters aren’t outdone; they all get some time in the spotlight. See Little Women at 8 p.m. Thursday and today; show also runs 8 p.m. August 1 and 2 p.m. August 3. The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby. For tickets and information, call 713-861-7045 or visit www.masqueradetheatre.com. $30 to $50.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: July 25. Continues through Aug. 3, 2008
