Tuna Does Vegas in Galveston

It’s been more than two decades since Joe Sears and Jaston Williams created the cast of hilarious hoots from Tuna, Texas, “the third smallest town in Texas.” Since then, the silly Tuna characters have appeared at the White House, on Broadway and on HBO. We’re happy to report that folks like Bertha Bumiller, a Smut Snatcher of the New Order and Job Bob, who’s on the Rush Limbaugh Diet, have returned to the Lone Star State for a rousing romp of summer fun in Tuna Does Vegas. The small-town oddballs hit the strip and battle over slot machines, take a gander at Elvis impersonators and run into Vegas-style goofballs who include a masseuse and the manager of the Vega Hula Chateau Hotel. It’s not deep, but it sure is funny. 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays; 2 and 7 p.m. Sundays. Through August 24. The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice in Galveston.
