In her boundary-pushing explorations of modern dance, Erin Reck has been known to examine everything from complex math equations to basic questions of human existence, sometimes in a single performance. When to Come Up for Air, Recks Hopewerks presentation at Hope Stone Inc., takes on the ways a disaster can affect a group of people. Piles of dirt onstage bring the physical essence of disaster, but the real stars of the show are the fear, desire and desperation portrayed by the dancers. Between partnered dance sequences in the dirt, there will be laughter, tears and even some make out sessions all in the name of survival, of course. A reception with the company follows each performance. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 1210 West Clay Street. For information, call 713-526-1907 or visit www.hopestoneinc.org. $5.
