Austins favorite filmmaker, Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist), made what he called his hippie movie, Eggshells, in 1969. Described by Hooper as a mixture of Andy Warhols Trash and Walt Disneys Fantasia, the film was once considered lost. Well, its been found. Eggshells had its resurrection last year at Austins SXSW Film Fest and now is part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houstons Texas Independents series. Full of psychedelic colors and equally colorful editing choices and experimental sequences, the film chronicles the lives of a bunch of kids living together in Austin. They share a house, many, many drugs and each other. Theres also a ghostly electronic pulsing presence in the basement, but it gets lost in the larger counterculture overtones. 7 p.m. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-639-7515 or visit www.mfah.org/films. $6 to $7.
