The Apocalypse Ball

Once a year, every year, the world ends at the Frenetic Theater, but that's okay because the Armageddons held there are awesome. There's plenty going on at this year's The Apocalypse Ball. The focus this time around is zombies. Freneticore and The Houston Zombie Walk have teamed up to bring an undead dystopia in order to benefit Houston Fringe Festival. ''If we got to choose whether the apocalypse looks more like the Book of Revelation or The Walking Dead, we would probably have a better chance of survival against the undead,'' said Freneticore's Rebecca French. In addition to the ghouls, the Ball has added zombie burlesque, fire dancing and art from Houston's masters of the macabre Bret and Rachel Harmeyer. If brains aren't your thing, you can munch on food from Ninfa's, Canopy, Beaver's, and Zeapod Cakery. Freneticore will perform part of The Rite of Summer, a dramatic re-imagining of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.

8 p.m Frenetic Theater, 5102 Navigation. For information, call 832-426-4624 or visit freneticore.net. $20 to $60.
