Whenever a retrospective TV show highlights clips from I Love Lucy, you can guarantee they’ll show the one where the girls go to Italy and stomp grapes. Now you can channel your inner Lucy and Ethel (and work your calves at the same time!) at Pleasant Hill Winery’s 13th Annual Crush for Fun. Lose all sense of decorum as you roll up you pants and start smashing grapes into the Nectar of the Gods fit for imbibers from Dionysus and French sommeliers to winos hanging out at downtown’s Market Square (okay, maybe not the last…). Organizers assure potential stompers that purple feet “will only last a day or two,” so don’t think you have gout or anything. Pleasant Hill Winery opened in 1997, and joins a growing list of wineries (more than 40 in the Hill Country alone) out to promote and burnish the reputation of Texas wines. Crush for Fun weekends also feature arts and crafts booths and winery tours and tastings.
