Conversations with the Director: MFAH Director Gary Tinterow Talks with Michael York

It’s been more than 40 years since Bob Fosse’s landmark film Cabaret first hit the screen. The movie featured a trio of young stars, Liza Minnelli, Joel Grey and Michael York. Houston fans can hear York discuss his time making Cabaret and the rest of his quite varied career at Conversations with the Director: MFAH Director Gary Tinterow Talks with Michael York. The two have been friends for more than a decade and when the newly restored version of Cabaret became available for screening, Tinterow reached out to York and arranged a visit. “I knew we wanted to show [the restored version of] Cabaret, and I knew we wanted to have Michael come for a talk at the museum. Putting them together just seemed the natural thing to do.”

There’s a reception at 5:30 p.m. The talk and screening are at 6:30 p.m. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 713‑639‑7300 or visit mfah.org. $35.
