The current show at the Jung Center of Houston is
“Best Laid Plans - Art by Russell Prince.” This is the second solo show for the Houston-based emerging artist, who uses found materials to create collages. His work is difficult to characterize, although there are obvious cubist and Dada influences. Jennifer Wilkins, programs and gallery manager, describes the artist and his work this way: “Russell Prince is a nervous flier until the plane dips below the clouds and land is sighted. The landscape seems so orderly from an aerial view, but on the ground there are cabs to catch and bills to pay and mouths to feed and cracks in the sidewalk. Prince explores this ever-shifting world in collages made of found materials and aged elements.”
