Holly-Prov, An Improv Show

Holly-Prov, An Improv Show features comedy by Guns for Hire, music by fusion rock band Gypsy Mullet and improv from the women of Ophelia’s Rope. Actor, director and playwright L. Robert Westeen is joining Ophelia’s Rope as a special guest. (Westeen recently completed a well-received run at Queensbury Theatre — a reprise of his coming-out monologue called Cocaine and Ethel Merman: The New Homo Guide.) Improv veterans Ruth S. McCleskey and Autumn Clack make up Ophelia’s Robe. McCleskey says their acts are “sometimes funny, sometimes poignant and always honest.” The women start their set by making up a song inspired by an audience suggestion, then building the world that song lives in. The inclusion of special guest Westeen is sure to raise the hilarity factor.

Guns for Hire — previously known as Beta Max, the house troupe for Beta Comedy Theatre — includes alumni from the comedy groups Rogue, Phortasics and ComedySportz. Guns start the evening off on a fast pace with their signature high-octane style. Afterward, Gypsy Mullet’s eccentric front man, Adam Shows, takes the stage to rock a few groove-centered songs leading into the Ophelia’s Rope set. 8:30 p.m. Rudyard’s British Pub, 2010 Waugh.
