Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Get Their Mojo Workin' At The Woodlands May 16

About a year and a half ago, Rocks Off had one of the best concert experiences we've ever had when Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers closed out their 2008 tour at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. About an hour ago, Live Nation made our week (hell, maybe our month) when it announced Petty and the band will return to the venue May 16.

Mojo, Petty's first album with the Heartbreakers since 2002's The Last DJ, is scheduled to be released this spring; its Animals-like first single, "Good Enough," is now streaming on tompetty.com. (It's also a pretty fair review of the track.) Tickets go on sale March 8 at livenation.com.

Buy one and you get all sorts of neat stuff. First, Live Nation will send you email that lets you download "Good Enough" and another Mojo track, "First Flash of Freedom." Once the album is released, you'll get a code that enables you to download the whole thing. Finally, once the tour is over, they'll send you a bunch of live tracks.

Rocks Off is a little miffed about the show's opener, Joe Cocker. Nothing against Mr. Mad Dogs and Englishmen, but the Midwest leg gets Drive-By Truckers, My Morning Jacket is on a few East Coast dates and the Heartbreakers will be playing alongside Houston's own ZZ Top at Summerfest in Milwaukee.

We have been looking for a reason to get out of town...
