With God on Our Side: 5 Artists Who Have Claimed God Loves Their Music

The majority of the population of the world believes in some concept of God, and most believe they have it right and everyone else has it wrong. Musicians aren't exempt from this and, in the grand tradition of trying to figure out what God is thinking, many have claimed God is a fan of their work. I'm not even talking about specifically religious bands here, either!

Of course, John Lennon famously commented that the Beatles were bigger than Jesus, which presumably would mean God is a bigger fan of the Liverpudlians than of his own son, but there's been plenty of other wacky comments in that vein over the years.

4. Asylum Street Spankers A longtime satirical band from Austin, Asylum Street Spankers built their career on parody and experimenting with musical styles. They broke up in 2011, but released their last album in 2009. The name of that album? God's Favorite Band.

Hey, we won't question it. God's favorite band being from Texas would make perfect sense to us, if not maybe to the rest of the country at large.

3. Noreaga/N.O.R.E. Rappers are known for crazy boasting, so it figures it was only a matter of time before one claimed that God loved his music more than anyone else's. If I had to guess, I would bet plenty of rappers have done so and are just escaping my memory right now.

But Queens' own Noreaga took it a little further and went the same more direct route that Asylum Street Spankers took several years later by naming his 2002 album God's Favorite. While I personally feel like God is more a fan of indie hip-hop like Aesop Rock and Immortal Technique, it does seem He had a hand in this record, since it was the highest-charting of Noreaga's career to date.
