Duo YUMENO

East and West meet in an impressive concert by Duo YUMENO. Yoko Reikano Kimura, a traditional Japanese koto/shamisen player and singer, and Hikaru Tamaki, a classical cellist, make up the awardwinning duo. Don’t think the pairing of traditional Asian and classical Western instrumentation is a gimmick. The New Yorkbased performers blend the best of both string instruments to create a haunting and sophisticated sound. They have built an unequaled repertoire of works by contemporary Japanese and American composers including Yoko Sato, Hiroki Tamaki, Marty Regan and Lou Harrison.(Regan, a Texas A&M music professor, is a frequent collaborator.)
