Untapped Houston 2015 Taps Cold War Kids, Twin Shadow, Fat Tony & More

Sultry California rockers the Cold War Kids, Rhode Island's rootsy Deer Tick, and enigmatic Brooklyn electronica auteur Twin Shadow are on tap for the third installment of Untapped Houston, the Bayou City branch of the statewide beer-and-music festival franchise. Besides the music, organizers are promising more than 300 varieties of beer from more than 70 different breweries, all converging on Discovery Green September 12.

Adding some local and regional flavor this year will be funnyman Houston rapper Fat Tony, well-manicured local indie-rockers New York City Queens, Dallas singer-songwriter Sarah Jaffe, H-town digital cumbia producer Gio Chamba, and a DJ set by hipster-disco duo Wrestlers.

Produced by DFW marketing agency Spune, Untapped was founded in 2012 to bring together the best craft beers from Texas and beyond with just as carefully curated musical acts. After its first year in Dallas, Untapped spread out to Houston and Fort Worth the next year and Austin this past April, with an Untapped San Antonio planned for November 21. Houston-area acts who have played the first two Untapped Houston installments include the Suffers, Tontons, Featherface, BLSHS and ex-Houstonian Robert Ellis, who returned as one of the 2014 headliners.

Tickets start around $26 for a music-only pass. Other tiers start at $33, good for music, one 12 2-oz. beer-sampler card and commemerative souvenir cup; all the way up to the $55 “Preferred” package that includes early access (2:30 p.m.); the sampler card (refills will be $5) and souvenir cup.

Tickets are on sale now at untapped-festival.com.
