Where to Dine in Houston This Father's Day 2016

Just as moms do, the loving dads in your life deserve a good meal on their holiday (which, hint hint, is Sunday, June 19). So it’s a good thing there are a plethora of excellent Houston restaurants ready to serve him one up. From prix-fixe meals featuring big beefy steaks to family-friendly spots serving up morning classics, check out our 2016 Father’s Day Dining Guide:

Añejo Tex-Mex, 1180-1 Uptown Park, 713-963-9032
Bring Dad in for brunch or dinner, featuring Michelada specials and prime rib plates, in addition to Anejo’s regular menus. Specials will be available all day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Arnaldo Richards’ Picos, 3601 Kirby, 832-831-9940
Enjoy a special Father’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., which will feature new and classic favorites including a Prime Rib Carving Station and Seafood Paella a la Valenciana in a 32 inch pan. Ceviches, salads, fresh fruits and grilled vegetables will also be offered, along with a 28 foot long dessert bar featuring fabulous desserts from the Seven Regions of Mexico. Cost is $39 for adults and $25 for seniors (65+), $18 for children (6-12), and free for children under 6.

B&B Butchers & Restaurant, 1814 Washington, 713-862-1814 
B&B Butchers & Restaurant will be open on Father’s Day for brunch and dinner with live music during brunch (11 am to 3 p.m.) on the covered rooftop patio, which now has large overhead fans. The Butcher Shop at B&B has also put together Father’s Day take-out packages to grill at home.

For Father’s Day, Chef Hugo Ortega will offer a special three-course menu from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $48 per adult and $15 per child, plus tax, gratuity and beverages. The multi-choice menu includes dishes such as Texas Peach Salad with grilled peaches, crisp prosciutto, and burrata; Tenderloin and Eggs with rosemary potato cake and creamy hollandaise; and Blackberry Cobbler with mascarpone ice cream.

Brennan’s of Houston will host a special Father’s Day brunch (10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and dinner (5:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.). Prepared by Executive Chef Danny Trace in the restaurant’s signature Texas Creole style, brunch will include a three-course prix-fixe meal ($56*), while dinner will be served à la carte.

Brenner’s on the Bayou, 1 Birdsall, 713-868-4444 

Toast the man of the house during Brenner’s on the Bayou’s delectable Backyard Cookout, held from 3 p.m. until sunset. No ordinary celebration, this bountiful backyard cookout will offer top-notch specials on the 20 ounce Porterhouse, served with a loaded potato and salad, and the 8 ounce Top Sirloin, served for children 12 and under. While grillin’ and chillin’, families can also enjoy live music by local favorite, the Matt Cline Band.

This island-style eatery and rum bar will be offering dads a free Father’s Day gift and complimentary dessert.

¡Feliz Dia de los Padres! Hit this Father’s Day brunch buffet for an endless array of antojitos from the comal, marinated vegetable salads, enchiladas, seafood-stuffed poblanos, empanadas, chilaquiles with eggs, an array of ceviches, and a whole lot more. Just save room for the lineup of traditional Mexican fresh baked breads, cookies, candies and pastries. Price is $45 per adult and $15 per child and seatings are available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Treat Dad with Brunch All’ Italiana at Ciao Bello. Enjoy a variety of brunch dishes with Italian flare like the Challah Egg Sandwich with house cured lamb pancetta, taleggio and insalata estiva; “Giambata” with scrambled eggs, zucchini, parmigiano, garden tomatoes and a Vallone sausage link ; and Market Vegetable Pasta tossed with Tony’s weekly picks from the vegetable garden. Morning drink specials include $3 Mimosas, $5 Bellinis (made with real peach juice), $6 Negronis and select wines by the glass starting at $5. For the man who like to sleep in, Ciao Bello will also be serving their a la carte dinner menu until 9 p.m.

The Mexican restaurant will be celebrating Father’s Day Weekend by grilling out on both Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reservations required.

Edgar’s Hermano at The Whitehall Hotel, 1700 Smith, 713-739-8800 (ext 6200)
This inspired restaurant in the recently renovated Whitehall Hotel will be open and serving its signature Mexi-South cuisine this Father's Day. Treat dads to Southern fried stuffed chicken with masa grits and candied bacon jam, chilaquiles, or a big ol' Texas ribeye. Hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

El Tiempo Cantina, multiple locations
All locations will be open regular hours and offering all Dads a quarter pound of their signature Filet Fajitas entree for $9.99 (regularly $21.99).

Etoile Cuisine et Bar

Join Etoile Cuisine et Bar for brunch between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Offerings will include Tartare De Boeuf (beef tartare, pickles, fresh herbs, crostini), Fletan D’Alaska Rôti (pan seared halibut, summer vegetables, lemongrass beurre blanc) and Pastilla Au Chocolat (dark chocolate “pastille”, mango gel, coconut sorbet). Cost is $48 per person.

Holley’s Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar

Enjoy the perfect manly brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $55 per person. Start with a house-smoked salmon and potato latke lagniappe before moving onto choices like miso glazed ribs, duck confit and Gulf shrimp gumbo, sorghum-glazed shrimp and grits, and down south coconut cake.

Celebrate Father’s Day by enjoying the famous bounteous brunch buffet of Authentic Regional Mexican cuisine at Hugo’s. The buffet will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with live music by Viento (from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Cost is $42 per adult and $15 per child (ages 10 and under), plus tax, gratuity and beverages.

In addition to their regular menu, Chef Alberto Baffoni and Mascalzone are are offering an all day Father's Day - Coastal Italian Style special, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., at both locations. Get grilled beef tenderloin and Maine lobster, with herb-roasted veggies and risotto infused with Prosecco and fennel. Dads get a $1 Italian cocktail.

Houston’s top restaurant for sushi and grilled Asian-inspired dishes will be open on Father’s Day serving their regular menu, daily specials, and free dessert for dads. Patio seating is available.

Now with two locations, there’s no better time to treat the whole family to a relaxed Father’s Day breakfast, lunch or dinner, featuring larger than life breakfast plates; sky-scraping sandwiches filled with a variety of traditional deli favorites; entree salads; smoked fish; stuffed cabbage served in a sweet and sour sauce; Hungarian goulash; chicken soup; homemade cheese blintzes, and New York-style cheesecake, of course.

The restaurant will be offering all Dads a 10 ounce Rib Eye Steak for $18.99. (regularly $38.99).

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy a Father's Day special ($46) featuring slowly roasted dry-aged prime rib, truffle smashed potatoes, fricassee of jumbo asparagus and king trumpet mushrooms, your choice of sauce, and a complimentary dessert off the regular menu. The a la carte dinner menu and special $15 children's menu will be available as well.
