Guttural, crunchy rock and roll is dominating Houston's concert scene in June, and our mixtape is no different. This month welcomes the legendary Weezer (June 10, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion), who have returned to their classic angsty surf-rock sound with the "White Album." You can also check out the always gaymazing punks PWR BTTM (June 21, Walters Downtown), or the wicked boss riffs of Speedy Ortiz (June 12, Walters Downtown). For those of you whose rock inclinations swing to the dark side, Marilyn Manson joins Slipknot to help you indulge in a heavy dose of sentimental '90s rage (June 26, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion).

There's a softer side to Houston's summer calendar, too. Wunderkinds Sunflower Bean (June 15, House of Blues) come to town with their airy folk-pop sound. Country band The Black Lillies (June 8, Dosey Doe Big Barn), despite having their entire touring rig stolen in Houston earlier this year, have decided to come back again. The best way you can support an artist who suffers such a catastrophe is to go to one of their shows, so get on it, y'all. We owe them.

Oh yeah, and there's this whole Free Press Summer Fest thing that's going on (June 4-5, NRG Park). Mac Demarco and Leon Bridges are just two of many artists who will be playing the parking lot this year, but don't worry. We've got another mixtape dedicated to the fest coming at you soon.
