August is typically a tough month for shows in Houston. We're still in the blistering thick of summer, a long ways off from when we catch ACL's music runoff. But this August has some acts coming to town that would even get the most concert-weary Houstonians out of their air-conditioned apartments. Blockbuster acts like Gwen Stefani (August 14, Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion) and Jeremih (August 19, House of Blues). But we've also got some great underground acts heading our way, like the earnest laments of Austin band The Eastern Sea (August 20, Satellite Bar) and the bouncing indie-pop of Dressy Bessy (August 5, Walters Downtown).
Don't forget to support your local bands, who are sweating it out to bring you some great music this August. You can catch neo-folk band Buxton (August 13, Market Square Park), singer songwriter Adam Bricks (August 24, Rudyard's) and electro-pop Bang Bangz (August 20, White Oak Music Hall).
