Updates On This Weekend's Houston-Area Concert Cancellations

** Shortly before noon, Live Nation announced that tonight's Coldplay concert at NRG Stadium has been postponed, and that ticketholders will be notified when further information becomes available.

** Cactus Music remains open until further notice. New releases out today include Queens of the Stone Age's Villains, The War On Drugs' A Deeper Understanding, A Giant Dog's Toy, Lilly Hiatt's Trinity Lane, Fifth Harmony's Fifth Harmony, and Iron & Wine's Beast Epic.

** 97.9 The Box is reporting that tonight's Mary J. Blige show at Smart Financial Centre has been postponed. According to the venue, the new date is September 19; all tickets for tonight will be honored, and point-of-purchase refunds will be available for those unable to make it.

** All events at Discovery Green have now been closed until Tuesday.

** According to organizer Bill Greer, tonight's first installment of the weekend-long memorial fundraiser for late Die Fast/30footFALL guitarist Chris LaForge (pictured above) at Warehouse Live has been postponed, and a new date will be announced next week. What he wrote on Facebook:

All involved have been pulling hard on trying to pull tonight off but the storm has put so many at risk. Myself, Ryan Girth and Floyd Willis have been in contact all morning and with the information provided by the venue, we have collectively decided on the obvious. Please stay safe. And if you can raise a toast to Chris tonight

As for tomorrow and Sunday's show, I am in contact with White Oak Music Hall and Rudyard's. We will make the call on those shows as soon as possible. These shows were a collective effort and all involved need to be in the loop. That is the reason why it's taking as long as it has to give the proper information.

** Says the venue, Simple Plan at House of Blues tonight has been postponed (new date TBD), but Already Gone tomorrow and Curtain Call Sunday are off.

** Tonight's Bob Livingston and Tish Hinojosa show at Anderson Fair is cancelled. According to the Montrose club's website, "We hope to reschedule this show soon."

** Galveston's Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe has canceled all of this weekend's scheduled shows.

** The Heights Theater announced that tonight's Cory Morrow show has been rescheduled, and tomorrow's Paul House show is canceled. Ticketholders for both shows will be notified by the ticketing company, Prekindle. A new Morrow date will be announced next week.

** Rockefellers has postponed CD release shows for Hamilton Loomis/Kelly Doyle (tonight) and tomorrow's Jeremy James (tomorrow). James's makeup date is September 16; Loomis's is TBD.

** The Martini Blu Jazz Festival at Martini Blu jazz cafe has been postponed to September 8 and 9.

** Tomorrow's Death Valley Girls show at the Continental Club is off, but the club will be open tonight for Disco Expressions' "Hot August Night" Neil Diamond-themed hurricane party.

** White Oak Music Hall has now canceled its shows scheduled for tonight, Saturday and Sunday.

** The fundraiser for KPFT's Electroluv program scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at Last Concert Cafe and featuring Golden Dawn Arkestra, Greyhounds, Potroast and Bayou City Funk has been postponed to an undetermined later date.

** Sunday's Lady Antebellum/Kelsea Ballerini/Brett Young show at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has been canceled, according to this statement the venue released Thursday afternoon:

Due to the anticipated weather event in Houston this weekend, and in the interest of Fan safety, Sunday’s Lady Antebellum YOU LOOK GOOD WORLD TOUR stop at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman has been cancelled. Refunds will be made automatically at point of purchase.
