More fatal alcohol-related car accidents occur in the summer than any other season.
Each year, July 4th serves as a reminder of the freedom and liberty we have and the bravery and sacrifice of those that continue to fight to preserve it. Americans everywhere look forward to gathering with their loved ones to celebrate Independence Day at parades, cookouts and fireworks shows.
The holiday also marks the mid-point of summer and unfortunately, one of the most dangerous times of year for drivers on our roads. We know that drunk driving accidents increase around the summer holidays, but we also know drunk driving is 100 percent preventable.
This 4th of July weekend, as you celebrate our nations’ Independence Day with friends and family, we encourage you to do your part to protect your own local community by choosing to “Decide to Ride.” Whether you call an UBER, use public transportation, or designate a driver to get home, make sure you do your part to keep our roads – and loved ones – safe this weekend.
Silver Eagle Houston, Anheuser-Busch, Uber, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) are proud to be a part of the special moments where we all come together, and we are committed to helping safeguard your 4th of July traditions for years to come.
Over the last 35 years, we have worked together with our partners to invest more than $1 billion on initiatives and community-based programs to prevent underage drinking, impaired driving, and other harmful uses of alcohol. A special emphasis has been placed on focusing on the 100 day stretch between Memorial Day and Labor Day, as more fatal alcohol-related car accidents occur in the summer than any other season.
This summer, all of us at Silver Eagle Houston have also joined forces with Anheuser-Busch, Uber and MADD to encourage everyone in Houston to plan ahead for a safe ride home and to ‘Decide to Ride’ if you are drinking to help keep our roads and communities safe.
Before you raise a glass at your July 4th gatherings, remember to plan ahead and schedule a ride share to and from the festivities. Making sure you take steps to protect yourself and others ensures that everyone can enjoy the holiday and respectfully honor those who served our communities and country.
and by focusing on planning ahead, it makes it easier for you to make smart decisions while having a happy and safe 4th of July.
